What we are doing together

giffgaff is a mobile and broadband provider that offers flexibility, simplicity and good value to customers across the UK. giffgaff is powered by the Virgin Media O2 network to deliver extensive mobile coverage and full fibre broadband, enabling customers or, as they describe them – members – to connect to the people and things they love most.

giffgaff works with Internet Matters to provide information, advice and guidance to help their members enjoy the benefits of the internet safely and with confidence. This includes sharing online safety information and supporting discussion in their online community, on their website, in social channels and in customer emails. giffgaff also shares resources internally with their employees.

How giffgaff supports online safety

giffgaff automatically restricts access to adult or age-restricted content (18+) by default on all mobile devices. To remove the content restriction, users must verify their age — usually through uploading valid ID documents (like a passport or driving licence).

giffgaff’s broadband service is supported by the Eero modem, which offers a range of features to support safer online experiences, including:

  • The option to create Family Profiles via the Eero app, assigning devices to specific profiles and applying rules to them.
  • In each profile, users can Pause internet access for all the devices in that profile (e.g., dinner time, homework time).
  • Users can also set Scheduled Pauses for each profile: e.g., internet off between 20:00-06:00 on weeknights.
  • Eero also provides basic Content Filtering: categories of content can be blocked according to age-based presets (e.g., pre-school, pre-teen, teen).
