Projects and programmes

Our research programmes track children and young people’s online experiences to generate insight and shape conversations around children’s online safety.

Research programmes

Our flagship research programmes provide us with insights into the latest experiences and trends in children’s and parents’ online safety. We use these insights to support families, educators, Industry and Government to make informed decisions about children’s online safety.

Our flagship Digital Wellbeing Index is an annual study exploring the positive and negative impacts of digital technology on children's lives. It is based on a household survey of 1,000 families exploring four dimensions of digital wellbeing: developmental, physical, social and emotional.

Our digital tracker monitors children's digital habits, experiences of harm online (such as bullying or exposure to hate speech) and parent's approaches to online safety. This is based on a nationally-representative survey of 2,000 parents of children aged 3-17 and 1,000 children aged 9-17.
