Laura Higgins is the Online Safety Operations Manager at SWGfL, lead partner of the UK Safer Internet Centre, where she manages two specialist Helpline services.
The Professionals Online Safety Helpline, is a unique service, the first of its kind in the UK, and has established itself as a lifeline for professionals who work with children and young people, experiencing issues with digital technology and online safety. The Helpline has been shortlisted for numerous awards, and is seen as an example of best practice, regularly being asked to contribute to articles for the media, radio and television, and to provide specialist advice to Government and Industry.
In 2015, SWGfL launched a brand new service specifically to support victims of revenge porn, once again, groundbreaking and a first for the UK. The Helpline has been funded by the Government Equalities Office and has already supported hundreds of victims.
Laura’s background is in operational management across different sectors of social care. She was a Committee Member for BBC Children In Need and has a very unhealthy interest in Social Media.
