Get involved in Anti-Bullying Week – Use your ‘Power for Good’

We are delighted to be partnering with Anti-Bullying Alliance to raise awareness of Anti-Bullying Week (ABW) which takes place from the 14th-18th November.

The week gives everyone the opportunity to take action against bullying and support young people on ways to prevent and respond to it. This year the theme is ‘Power for Good’ and aims to encourage parents, teachers, youth workers and young people to use their ‘Power for Good’ to stop bullying.

If you’d like to put your ‘power’ to the test and support your child, take a look at how you can get involved.

What you can do as a parent

How you can use your ‘Power for Good’ as a parent

1.  Have regular conversations with your child about all forms of bullying (on and offline) so they’re prepared to deal with it should it happen.

2. Create a safe environment to encourage your child to talk to you if anything upsets them at school or online.

3. Know the signs that your child might be experiencing bullying and consider how you could help and who you could go to for support.

4. Be involved in their digital life and make sure they know how to block and report abusive comments online.

5. Read your school’s anti-bullying policy and find out how they can support you and your child.

6. Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it. There are a number of great organisations that can support you and your child.

7. Give your child the confidence to be an upstander to support friends if they are being bullied
